Color Update

It's been ten weeks since I put any color on my hair. As you know from my blog post of May 31st, I've decided to let it go natural, i.e. gray. I got it cut today and as I suspected, the sides are almost totally silver. So is the crown. My bangs and the back are pretty much salt & pepper. As I looked in the mirror while Jerry continued to snip and trim, I moaned to him, "I look just like my mother!" Which I actually don't mind all that much because I thought my mother was beautiful. And I really don't mind the gray all that much either. It looks a bit strange now, but I think once the brown is completely gone, it will be fine. BTW...do you know how hard it is to get  a picture of your own hair??

Enough, I Say!

Inspired by a fellow blogger, Britt-Arnhild, I've decided to declare, "Enough!" I'm done coloring my hair. Oh, you thought this was natural? You would be wrong. I began having it colored about 15 years ago, not to color the gray, but rather to perk it up a bit, try something different. Over the years, it's become all about covering the increasing gray. Now that I'm not working, it's the perfect time to grow it out. I don't have to worry about looking scary while it transitions to...whatever it is. I can tell it's mostly gray around my face. Jerry, my hair guy, tells me there are some places it's white...now that's scary! But the back looks to be still brown. It's inevitable that the time would come to stop the madness of hair dye. After all, I intend to live to at least 105; nobody has brown hair at that age!

So, be prepared. You may not recognize me the next time you see me!

Doors...Closing & Opening

The world turned upside down this week at Red Bell Farm. I liken it to one door slamming closed...very unexpectedly... hopefully with another one opening in the near future. I am no longer employed; long story, not pretty, so not something I'll go into here. While I say that door slammed unexpectedly, it was not surprising; the how, when and why of it was. Just as this aged closed door in St. Cirq Lapopie has elements of starry beauty on it, so does the door that just closed in my life. I feel as though a huge burden has lifted and in less than 24 hours, my brain has already shifted to a better place. I'm sleeping better. I feel more inspired, more creative and more enthusiastic about life in general than I have in a long time. All those bright stars decorate my now-closed door and they shine on my path to the future....
Peeking open, this is the door in Laury's soon-to-be-part-of-the-Chatette barn. It's still a bit dark and dim inside; I don't know exactly what's in there. Things aren't in full leaf-and-flower yet. I feel the door to my future is opening like this, slowly beckoning me in to new adventures, new inspirations, new creations. Could that future be in the Lot? Is it somewhere else? Will it be in healthcare? Or will I find my true self in another place? Only time will answer those questions. I'll keep you in the loop.
