Getting Ready for the Vernissage*

I'm helping Laury get ready for the vernissage today. This is a photo of the cave before most of the art is hung. (you might recognize a couple of the pieces...I promise to show you the finished project!) We toted all the artwork downstairs this morning and propped each piece in the approximate places where they'll hang. This evening a friend of Laury's will come and help hang everything. There is a very interesting variety of pieces...photography, collage, metal sculpture, clay, oil, watercolor, needlework. There are some cases of wine to add to the ambiance as well. There will be snacks and drinks, music and my guess is...lots of laughter and chattering in rapid-fire French. As beautiful as the centuries old stone is, cleaning and sweeping it is not a job for the faint-hearted...or a perfectionist! Laury scraped off bunches of moss while I swept and swept. We've weeded and pruned and dead-headed flowers. Tomorrow, the terrace, steps and patio by the cave will get a last minute sweeping, we'll arrange the seating and tables, light the candles, put the music on and relax with a glass of wine. Let the party begin!
*vernissage....French for gallery opening.
